Art in the Forest is a thriving ceramic centre and social business reinvesting their profits back into their foundation, the Light from Africa Foundation.
They provide free clay classes to children from disadvantaged communities and schools. Their aim is to deliver dynamic, creative, interactive programmes that facilitate the integration of life skills and self-esteem into the lives of vulnerable children through the use of clay.

Bethesda provides skills development, social services and employment support for its 30 disabled clients.
Bright Start, for the past seven years has been providing access to quality education to children from the age of three as well as training workshops for adults, from the historically disadvantaged communities of Imizamo Yethu and Hangberg.

Chic Mamas Boutique opened in 2011 as a quality second hand clothes shop/swap situated on Earl Street off Victoria Avenue. Community Cohesion are key stakeholder partners of the Department of Social Development (DSD) under their Social Crime Prevention Programme, specifically in their Victim Empowerment Programme.  All of this translates into providing psycho-social development, training, education and support with the objective of building family and personal resilience.

The Eyethu Skate Park is a fantastic project which at the moment takes place in the Sunday Market car park while it waits for the final project to be built next to the soccer field presently occupied by Silver City.
The club has been happening every Saturday afternoon and has proved extremely popular with a wide range of kids. An important aspect of this project is that it attracts some of the most marginalized children who do not attend any of the other projects. Sadly the organizers have been forced to reduce it to just once a month due to the lack of hands to run it. 
Friends of the Rivers of Hout Bay is a dynamic NGO dedicated to the rehabilitation and conservation of the river system in this fragile ecological area. Find them on Facebook; Friends of the Hout Bay River.
Hangberg Education and Development Movement has a feeding programme, help broken families as well as those with drug and alcohol addiction.

Help Hout Bay is an organisation that aims to bring the NGO's of Hout Bay and the community together. It facilitates volunteering, donation of second hand items as well as networking for NGO's in the valley.
Hout Bay CARES was launched in 2011 to address the challenges faced by Hangberg’s residents living in the midst of an escalating drug crisis. The project primarily targets individuals and families affected by alcohol and drug related harms through treatment, education about dependency and addiction disorders and lifestyle education. Its aim is to be enrolled into several areas in the Cape Town area.

Hout Bay Community Health Forum meets once a month to aid communication between the many different local organisations working to improve health in the valley.
Hout Bay Cycling Club is based at James House and was founded by a group of veteran cyclists who wanted to provide Hout Bay youngsters with an opportunity to experience the world of cycling while offering a healthy alternative to the negative influences found within their communities.

Hout Bay Music Project was set up in 2003 by Leanne Dollman to give the children of Hout Bay, most particularly those in the IY and Hangberg communities the opportunity of learning to play an instrument with professional teachers in a safe environment.

Hout Bay Neighbourhood Watch was started in 2005 and today enjoys tremendous support of local residents, as well as of SAPS, the Community Police Forum and the security companies. It has grown and continues to engender a community spirit, and definitely has become a way of life. Neighbours watching over neighbours is what it’s all about.

Hout Bay Partnership was formed in 2014 as a non-political, self-governing organisation that seeks to create a model for integrated social and economic development through partnerships between different people and organisations  who are dedicated to finding a path for Hout Bay to get passed its most pressing challenges.

Ikhaya Le Themba
was founded in 2004. Their aftercare program for children affected by HIV/AIDS runs 5 days a week. They also run workshops for the parents.

Iziko Lobomi is a church-cum-adult training centre, providing a place to meet and learn, as well as providing food for many in the community.
Iziko Lo Lwazi makes fine stationery products from recycled paper and apply unique beaded design elements hand-crafted by local women. They offer an enterprise development programme, English literacy, skills training, life skills and opportunities for entrepreneurship. Loans and business mentoring are also made available to these women from the informal settlement of Imizamo Yethu.
James House was first established in 1986, now has a range of child protection, youth development and empowerment programs, which reach over 600 vulnerable children, young people, and their families from the Imizamo Yethu and Hangberg communities of Hout Bay every year.

Lions Club of Hout Bay - The Lions Club International is a worldwide organisation dedicated to serving the needs of the less fortunate. Lions are ordinary men, women and young people from all walks of life who bridge religious, political, economic and social boundaries. They are united in their desire to make a difference by contributing their personal time and talents to help other people. Their motto is “We Serve”.
Mandela Park Mosaics  - They create beautiful and decorative mosaic art.  Their mission is to create unique handcrafted products, with a strong social responsibility focus and emphasis on supplying the local & international market with a truly African décor product
Maths Clinic - Maths Clinic is a registered non-profit organisation in Hout Bay which offers after-school maths and science tuition to grade 8-12 learners living in Imizamo Yethu.  Founded just last year, Maths Clinic is already at maximum capacity with 21 students enrolled; demand for places is massive and they want to grow their existing classes near Silikamva High School and then open in Hangberg too. 
The founders need more volunteers to teach classes; some previous experience in teaching and/or mathematics to matric level preferred but there are roles teaching younger age groups which just require numeracy and enthusiasm!  Volunteers need to commit to at least one afternoon a week for a  minimum of a term.
Maths Clinic is funded entirely by donations so any assistance would be gratefully received.

Miriam's Grace Centre: started feeding patients at the IY clinic in 2011. She now feeds 70 patients at the clinic as well as providing 40 meals to some of the most disadvantaged in Imizamo Yethu every week. She is supported by a few organisations including the Rotary Club but still needs to finance the food herself to some extent each month.

NSRI: The National Sea Rescue Institute has over 900 unpaid volunteers who respond 24/7/365 to save lives on South African waters. They also teach disadvantaged children about basic water safety through their proactive educational initiative the WaterWise Academy. Hout Bay NSRI are at the heart of our community and act as the base for many local crises' including providing great support for those fighting the recent fires. 
Olu's Dream aims to provide private English Language tuition for the illiterate students of Oranjekloof Moravian Primary School in Hout Bay. Improving their ability to read and write, they build self-confidence, become motivated to stay in school and actively participate in their education.

Pink Ladies - The Pink Ladies are an independent group of volunteers, affiliated and associated with The Pink Ladies (a registered Section 21 NGO). The organisation was established for the primary purpose of reuniting missing and endangered children and loved ones with their families and/or caregivers. They are a national organisation working throughout South Africa.

Rainbow Dreams Trust - RDT operate township youth clubs and camps for those underprivileged and additionally challenged, often by illness or disability. They act as a second family providing much needed structure in young lives: homework times, choir practise, quarterly parent and school meetings, and people to talk to when things are tough. Their "To Be A Child Again" club operates in Imizamo Yethu.

TB/HIV Care are committed to empowering communities by facilitating and providing treatment support and preventive, diagnostic and rehabilitation services for TB and HIV  clients.
Thrive Hout Bay is an organization that unites Hout Bay through environmental awareness events and action projects. Workspace is a shared DIY workshop incorporating  design, manufacture, education and training. 500 square meters of workshop divided up into fully equipped  zones including – automotive repair bay, woodworking shop, Engineering shop, Concept development area, Craft and hobby,  Pottery and glass zone, Computer with design software and 3D Printer, CNC Routing machine, Lounge and Gallery area with free coffee and WIFI. They also provide workshops, courses and network functions.
